Backless stools solve a problem taller stools create: they slide all the way under a counter overhang and disappear. Kauai keeps the profile clean and light, in brushed mango wood with rich gray undertones.

The seat is cushioned and upholstered rather than bare wood, which matters when breakfast turns into an hour of conversation. Intercon builds it from solid mango and select hardwoods, so it has real heft without bulk, and the 24 inch seat height is sized for a standard 36 inch counter. Line up two or three along a kitchen island or a counter-height peninsula, or keep one at a bar cart or a kitchen desk. It matches the Kauai dining tables, ladder stool, and sideboard for a full set.
