Most recliners quit on a big frame. The Mastodon is built the other way around: an oversized, heavily reinforced chair from the Best Home Furnishings Beast line, rated for 500 pounds of everyday use and long enough for tall people to actually straighten out.

The mechanism is heavy-duty 7-gauge all-steel, the frame is reinforced with 2.5-inch lag bolts, and a 16-bar coil spring seat works with high-resiliency 2.5 density foam so the seat will not flatten or sag. Wide fully padded arms and a full chaise footrest run the comfort from head to toe. Power recline uses a tethered hand wand that works from either side. The SpaceSaver base reclines near the wall, so it fits a media room or den that cannot spare clearance behind the chair. Give it a spot where it can stretch to its full length.
