A freestanding island adds counter space and storage to a kitchen without a contractor. This 70 inch Intercon island brings a long work surface and an overhead rack into a kitchen that was built without either.

At 70 inches it is long enough to prep on one end while someone eats at the other, and the rack keeps pots, pans, or glassware within reach and off the counter. Intercon builds its dining and kitchen pieces from solid woods and select hardwoods, and this island carries the brand's Furniture For Life approach to everyday-use pieces. Place it in the center of an eat-in kitchen with clearance on both sides, or run it along a wall as a serving counter in a dining room or a finished basement bar area. Ask the store to confirm finish and configuration before ordering.
